Our Philosophy

A Stickley chair, an original French provincial cabinet, an authenticated Eduardian dining set – beautiful sought-after items, correct? Items that should be restored to retain their original tenor, their rich heritage, the pure tone.  Well…. none of them will ever be found at Wood Be Nostalgic.

Rather, we seek out the unknown pieces, the one-of-kind, the neglected pieces “The Island of Forgotten Toys” items, and give them new life, new purpose.  My wife and I scour antique stores on every travel we undertake (day trip, or week-long vacation) to locate that unique piece that inherently narrates its own story. We seek furnishings that have been neglected, left in disrepair, or whose beauty has simply been overlooked due an accumulation of dust, an array of scratches, a displaced crack, or a missing knob. To my wife and I, these are the silver veins, the golden nuggets, the jewels of the Nile.

We have always been a couple drawn to the task of building and creating, and we embrace the challenge of a good project. These are the items that speak to us. My personal path began as a mill and lathe machinist working my way through college. This gifted me with the foundational skills to analyze creative tasks, design with intention, troubleshoot challenges, and perfect each step along the way. It’s a journey that echoed my deep-seated passion for science and discovery. It’s a path that I’ve found deep solace in taking as I redirect the last chapter of my productive years. With my wife’s keen eye and creative flair, and my intent craftsmanship, let us create new life for your forgotten treasure!
